Are the Patriots overrated or just media darlings?

Patriots seemed to be either overrated
Or just media darlings. That every newspaper
Seems biased towards them, especially the people
Like Vic Carucci at NFL.com. He seems to love them.
    If you read his columns.

    Both the Patriots are average...

They play in a sissy division.

They are overrated and they are media darlings.

But they are not a bad team. They are a quality team, superbowl calibur even, but I do not believe that they are better than the Ravens, Chargers, Saints or Eagles.

The 5th best team in the league this year, IMO.

    YES!!!

Not since the 90's Cowboys who had John Madden in a full-time orgasm about their fat-a$$ offensive linemen's butt sweat have I had to hear so many analysts cream in their pants over a team, a coach, and especially...a player. (Tom Brady)

Tom Brady ran for a twelve yard gain last weekend and Phil Simms (who I usually like) almost tore his shirt off and threw his panties at Tom!.....it was twelve frieking yards Phil!!!

A great team in a lousy division
But again with the exception of people in Boston
The nation won't embrace them in the SB because
They have won three times and going there a fourth time
Will make me want to puke.

That is hard to accomplish but still
The media treats them like they will win
Each and every game playoffs, pre-season, or
Regular season. So yes they blow the Pats
    Way, way, out of proportion!

I think the better question are the majority of people who've posted in this thread intelligent football fans?

The pats just win. Not sure what else there is to say about it.

    Exactly.

To answer the thread starter, the answer is neither. I don't understand why almost everyone here hates on the Patriots every chance that they can get. They win every year no matter who they let go via free agency.

There are soooooooooooo many other teams to hate that actually deserve it (like the Colts). Why do people want to bang on a team that won 3 Super Bowls in 4 years and has a quarterback that is 11-1 in his career in the playoffs?

    I'll never understand it.

Well true they find a way to win
But it is like deja vu all over again
They go to the playoffs always the favorites
There hasn't been one time where they were the underdogs
Saying that they play under the radar is balony.

I agree. they are a very smart and experienced team, but they have lost so many key players that you just can't say they are a great team still. I'm getting really sick of everyone saying how great they are, and I hope they get killed, too bad it won't be us.

I guess you forgot about 2001 when they were 14 point underdogs to the greatest show on turf!

Well, they're facing a great show again this Sunday. They've proved it before, they will prove it again.

Oh yeah forgot about the Rams-Pats run in 2002. Now I remember but ever since then, the Pats seem to always be favored.

Nope. Even in 2003 & 2004, the Colts were favored to beat the Pats - AT HOME - in the playoffs.

In 2004, the Pats were favored, but then Indy "didn't even have to punt" in their games with Denver and KC, so the odds changed. At kickoff, the Colts were favored by 1 1/2....in the snow....in Foxboro.

I know many of the so-called 'experts' are picking the Pats this weekend. In large part, thats because they've been embarrassed and burned time after time. Add in the teams improved play over the last 4 weeks and the seeming drop in the Chargers performance and i can see why they are.

Myself? I pray for the Pats to win, but this will be there toughest challenge to date....well, since that nasty game in Denver last year...
