Broncos' Nash collapses, dies

(Getty Images / Doug Pensinger)Indianapolis - Tragedy struck the Broncos for the second time in less than two months Saturday when backup running back Damien Nash collapsed and died after a charity basketball game in St. Louis, his agent, David Canter, said late Saturday night. Nash was 24.

Nash, who was signed as a free agent in August, played in three games last season and had 24 carries for 98 yards. He started as a rookie in 2005 with Tennessee, which took him in the fifth round. He played in three games for the Titans.

Nash was from East St. Louis, Ill. He played two season at Missouri after starting at Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College.

In the early morning hours of Jan. 1, Darrent Williams was shot and killed while riding in a limousine after leaving a nightclub in Denver, hours after the Broncos' season ended. Police have not made any arrests in that case.
