Travis Henry and Mike Bell's # (merged)

Who's gonna get #20? I couldn't find another thread on this so I figured I would make one.

Anyways as you know Travis Henry wore #20 with the Bills and the Titans, and well, that's Mike Bell's number as well. So who's gonna get it?

I heard that Mike Bell wears number 30 normally but didnt wanna disrespect the ledgend that is TD! So now he has had a year to settle in and the 30 jersey aint retired, then he may switch to that and Henry takes 20!

Henry-etta. Mike should just wear 02, though I think he has to stay with certain #'s for RB's. He can wear #26, and let people think its Tatum out there, but with less speed & dancing at LOS.

I heard in the press conference that Henry was going to offer 10K for the number to Bell.

Do you think Bell will do it - should he?

I tell you I love Elway! He was my hero growing up. I loved the way he threw the ball with velocity! I love that in a QB. This is why I am a Cutlerfan!!

If I was Mike Bell I would do it, but say dont worry about the 10k...that'd be proper safe of Bell and he'd get respect from Henry! I say this as well coz as i said b4, number 30 is Bell's number so he wont be that fond of number 20! if it was 30 henry wanted then i wouldnt accept!!

I wonder how the fans would respect him wearing 30??

I wish he would wear either 27 or 29 out of respect - maybe Denver should just retire these numbers

Here's the article from the Denver Post. I think it's pretty cool of Bell to let Henry have the number. He has no attachments to the number and doesn't see any reason to be territorial over it.

    http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_5421139

Mike Bell's response to Travis Henry's need to wear jersey No. 20 with the Broncos?

"He can have it," Bell said Monday. "I don't have an emotional attachment to that number. I know he does....I'll talk to him and we'll work it out. He can have it. It'll be his."

Henry, who signed with the Broncos last week to be their primary running back, said he would pay Bell, who wore No. 20 as a rookie last season, $10,000 to give up the jersey.

Henry has worn the number throughout his career. Monday, he had a medallion around his neck that featured the number.

Bell's biggest issue is not financial reimbursement.

"I just want to get a good number," said Bell, who said he may ask to wear No. 30, which his hero, Terrell Davis, wore while Davis starred for the Broncos. "That's all I care about is getting a good number."

there u go! an nfl player should care about 10k for a number! i respect Bell for that! and i respect his decision not to wear 30 in his rookie year! but maybe too early to wear it yet! yeh ur right it should be reitred but it isn't! i would like to see 29!

He should take the $10k (rediculous money thrown around and split it between D. Will and Nash's surviving family....

While I agree that the #30 should be retired I have to think that if we retire all the numbers of the players we love there wouldn't be any for guys to wear now. Since it's not retired I think it would be a little weird to see a 30 running around the field but I could get used to it. I'd rather see it go to him as TD was his hero when he was groing up. Why not let the guy wear the number that his hero wore. Growing up no matter what sport I was playing (baseball, football, basketball) I always wore either 7 or 27. I can understand the emotional ties to your hero's number.

this situation is like the Wesley Duke situation when he took #84 as his. we all knwo that it was Shannon's number but like rich5368 said: if we retired all of the greats, there would be no more number they could wear unless standard NFL numbers became 3 digits-then we could retire a good majority of numbers! i say let him have 30. maybe once he wears it, his determination and heart will definately be hit and he'll be a true competitor for Henry's job? i say give him 30 if he really wants it
