    1st Round Draft NEEDS

Now that Al Wilson is gone, what position should we draft in the first round?

I still think we should go with a DE.

If the talk was to move a former 1st round LB to the middle, then it should not matter in the first....we still go after a DE or S.

We probably will draft a Linebacker but it's not a dead cert for Day 1.

Louis Green is a good ST ace but I've never seen him play. Cameron Vaughn apparently impressed in TC last year but he was undrafted so we can't put too much faith in him.

i say move D.J. to middle and let cameron vaughn and nate webster battle for the starting spot in trianing camp. as far as first round im still all for a safety in the first round. then Dline help in the second and third

    Guess who voted DT.

Although trading up for Okoye seems completely impossible now.

    How about a magic trick?

I'm just not convinced about it though. DJ has no NFL experience at Mike. Nate Webster is primarily an MLB and injury prone and hasn't played much for 3 years or so. Cameron Vaughn is unknown although he has potential. It's true, we got by in 2003 with Jashon Sykes and Donnie Spragan but still...that was with Al in the middle. This is a different game.

We should still go DE or DT in the first... but knowing how shanahan loves his first round LB's (Wilson and D.J. were 1st rounders) it wouldnt shock me to see us go LB in the first now. I just dont see any of our backups being up to snuff. And moving D.J. to middle is STUPID. He is a natural Weak side lb, he can pass as a strong side... but he in no means is a middle lb. He doesnt have the size or the strength to replace Al in the middle. He cant shed blocks on the outside? How do you expect him to shed blocks (bigger blocks) on the inside?

I should still go DE in the first, but i can see shanahan going Lb in the first now.

The only way we go after a ILB is if Patrik Willis drops to our 21 spot. Which is very unlikely. I still say we go DE or S in the first and second.
