    Rufus Alexander

What made him drop to the sixth after getting 100+ tackles a few times?

Most mock drafts had him going in the 2nd or 3rd round.

He got in trouble off the field. I forgot what for.

    Typical OU bashing, nothing more.....

Alexander was arrested last October for disturbing the peace and interfering with police officers. Those charges were dropped when it was learned Alexander was attempting to be a peacemaker. "All Rufus did was break up a fight between a buddy and another guy," Stoops said. "That kid is a model kid."
Alexander's problems were that scouts decided he had a mediocre senior season and that he tested poorly in the NFL combine. He ran a 4.8 in the 40-yard dash, and films of last season revealed a dropoff from his junior season.

In the newspaper's predraft story, Alexander's name was included with players who faced charges ranging from weapon and marijuana possession, to failed drug tests and sexual assault.

"They had him in there with all these guys with major (criminal charges) like he's part of that story. And every (charge) against him was dropped," Stoops said. "Rufus was never in any trouble. He never had an issue at Oklahoma. "And yet that (Tuesday) article insinuates that's part of the reason why he dropped. It's horrible."

A steal for the Vikes. I'm sure to make that 4 hour drive to see him and AD play on a regular basis.

There are numerous reasons why Alexander fell to where he did in the draft.

He had terrible workouts, and he's not very big, although he'll be adequate for a weakside linebacker. He has always had trouble shedding blockers, and he lacks the correct instincts and vision to be a successful linebacker at the NFL level.

I was really surprised with his workouts, because watching him play he looks a lot faster than he timed, and he seemed to make a lot of nice players side line to side line with the Sooners.

Fortunately for him, he's in a scheme (Cover 2) which will allow him to succeed, and some of his weaknesses will be neutralized.

One thing that also hurt him, was his age. He was already 24 before the draft even came around. That's old. Most rookies coming out are in that 22 year old range. For example, Clinton Portis is going on his sixth year in the NFL and is just about ready to turn 26, and Rufus hasn't even played a down and he's 24 years old.

Same thing goes for CJ Ah You, he'll be 24 years old and a few months and that's old for a rookie.

Tim Crowder recently turned 22, and Marcus Thomas is still 21 years old. That's just to show you were some of our rookies are at.

Jarvis will be 23 in a few days, and you can bet your bottom dollar that one of the reasons he decided to come out now is because you don't want to be a 24 year old rookie entering the NFL. That's a FACT.

Hey Rockrules, when you can actually spell "offence" right, then you should be able to bash people.

Try replacing the "c" with an "s"

In all fairness, TX, did you read what Stoops had to say?
